File Check List
- Page LAYOUT ISSUES:
- Page size should be defined as final trim size.
- All bleeds should be .125”.
- Page/panel sizes should be correct for the style of fold, if final piece requires folding.
- Sunrise Printing Inc. will provide all trap.
- Clipping paths need to be created in Photoshop; avoid Quark clipping paths.
- TYPE ISSUES:
- Avoid style options or buttons (choose a font from the font menu).
- Avoid specifying a rule weight of hairline (define it as a .25 point rule).
- COLOR ISSUES:
- Define color names exactly the same between graphics software and page layout program.
- Define all colors appropriately as spot or CMYK colors in both the graphics and page layout.
- Output a laser copy of all separate color plates to verify accurate color break.
- Add 60% Cyan to the black in large solid black areas.(Rich Black: 60% Cyan, 100%)
- IMAGE CONSIDERATIONS:
- Avoid placing PICT files. Convert them to EPS of TIFF format.
- If Quark pages are saved as EPS files and placed in another document, send the original Quark page and placed files used to create the page.
- Convert all live bitmap files from RGB to CMYK.
- Ensure that scan resolutions are 300 dpi for images and 1200 dpi for scanned line work.
- Place all scans at 100% size or smaller (enlargements may compromise quality).
- Rotate, scale, and crop all images before placing on page. Doing this in the page layout software can cause excessive imaging time.
- Set picture box background color to none in QuarkXpress whenever possible.
- Clipping paths created in Photoshop need to be one full pixel into the image.
- ELEMENTS ON THE DISK TO BE SENT OUT SHOULD INCLUDE:
- Page layout files.
- Live art files/scanned images. Don’t forget embedded art files. No need to send F.P.O. images, they just take up extra disk space.
- Screen and printer fonts. Be sure to check all art files for fonts needed.
- Disk directory.
- Submit one of the following:
- a composite 100% size laser with color break info noted
- a composite 100% size laser with individual lasers of each color separation plate attached.
